Types of Rates Available with Expedia – PDP vs. OBP

Expedia offers two pricing models for your rooms:

  • Per Day Pricing (PDP)

  • Occupancy-Based Pricing (OBP)

⚠️ To switch between pricing models, you must contact your Expedia Market Manager.

1. Per Day Pricing (PDP)

With the PDP model, the nightly rate is fixed regardless of how many guests stay in the room. The total booking cost is calculated solely based on the number of nights.

Example:

You offer a room for two adults at $150 per night.

Whether it's booked for one or two guests, the rate stays the same:
$150 per night

So the total cost equals:
$150 × number of nights

2. Occupancy-Based Pricing (OBP)

The OBP model allows you to adjust your nightly rate based on the number of guests. You set a base rate for a specific occupancy, and then apply a surcharge for each additional person beyond that base.

Example:

Double Room (base occupancy: 2 guests):
$150 per night
Additional charge: $25 per extra guest (up to a maximum of 4 guests)

  • 2 guests: $150

  • 3 guests: $175 ($150 + $25)

  • 4 guests: $200 ($150 + 2×$25)

Additional Example:

Family Suite (base occupancy: 4 guests):
$250 per night
Additional charge: $30 per guest beyond 4 (up to a maximum of 6 guests)

  • 4 guests: $250

  • 5 guests: $280 ($250 + $30)

  • 6 guests: $310 ($250 + 2×$30)
